Özet
Bu çalışmada İspanyol yazar M. Cervantes’in ünlü eseri Don Quijote edebiyat sosyolojisi bağlamında ele alınmış, eserin analiz sürecinde ise nitel araştırma tekniklerinden biri olan içerik analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Don Quijote günümüzde genelde edebi açıdan mizah içeren yönüyle okurların ilgisini çekse de modern romanın ilk örneği olması ve o dönemde toplumsal alandaki hadiseler ve çatışmalarla ilgili modern bir anlatı olması açısından oldukça önemli ve öncü bir eserdir. Öncelikle Don Quijote’nin edebi bir eser olarak önemi üzerinden durulmuş, akabinde modern romanın ilk örneği olması bağlamında Cervantes’in eserinde modern okur ve bireyi hangi özellikleri ile ön plana çıkardığı çalışmanın ana odağını oluşturmuştur. Cervantes bu eserde klasik anlatıları eleştirmiş ve klasik anlatılardaki gibi yazar tarafından sınırlandırılmış ve edilgen görülen bir okur yerine, yorumlama özgürlüğü öne çıkarılan aktif bir okur vurgusu yapmıştır. Eserde ayrıca feodal dönemin yaşam alışkanlıkları ve hayalleri peşinde koşmanın yersizliği üzerinden, yaşadığı dönemdeki hadiseleri doğru şekilde idrak etmesi gereken modern bir birey vurgusu yapılmaktadır.

Abstract
In this study, Don Quixote, the famous work of Spanish writer M. Cervantes, is anaylzed in the context of the sociology of literature, and content analysis as one the qualitative research techniques is used in the analysis of this literal work. Nowadays, although Don Quixote generally attracts readers with its homorous aspect, it is very important and pioneering work in terms of being the first example of modern novels and in terms of being a modern narrative about the social fact-events and conflicts in the social structure at that time. Firstly, the importance of Don Quixote as a literary work is emphasized, and subsequently, the main focus of the study is on the Cervantes’ emphasis about modern individual and reader in his work in the context of being the first example of the modern novels. In this work, Cervantes criticizes restricted and passive reader by the author in classical narratives, and emphasizes an active reader that stands out with his/her freedom of interpretation. In this work, it is also emphasized a modern individual who must comprehend correctly the social facts at that time, rather than pursuing life habits and dreams of the feudal era.
