In the article, the white coat ceremony in the medical profession was emphasized, based on the interviews made with the physicians of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine, students and families of the students. The practice of dressing the students up in the white coat by the faculty members and the Hippocratic oath, which are the two basic symbols of the ceremony, was handled with their structural and functional features. As a result of the determinations and evaluations, it is seen that the white coat ceremony fulfilled an important task in terms of the acceptance of the doctor candidates to the medical profession. The faculty members both congratulate and honor students while dressing them up in white coats and celebrate their entry into a valuable profession.
